The best time to visit Page is in spring and fall.
The weather is usually best in April, May, and from mid-September to early November. During these months, it’s rarely too hot or too cold, though you should keep an eye on possible rainfall.
Most places can be visited year-round, but winter can be very cold, making outdoor activities less enjoyable.
In summer, the extreme heat can also be uncomfortable.
So if you want the best experience in Page, spring or fall is the ideal time to visit.

1. Visit Horseshoe Bend
One of the best things to do in Page is visiting the world-famous Horseshoe Bend.
Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped curve in the Colorado River, making it a unique attraction in the area.
It is located a short drive southwest of Page, near Highway 89, where you’ll find a parking lot close to the site.
You can park there for a one-time fee, then take a short 10-15 minute walk along a dusty trail to reach the viewpoint overlooking the Colorado River.
Once you arrive, you can enjoy the view from different angles, but it can get quite crowded. So, it’s worth considering the best time to visit.
Also, don’t forget to bring a wide-angle camera, as the place is much bigger than it looks in photos!
2. Hike the Waterholes Canyon Trailhead
Waterholes Canyon is located south of Horseshoe Bend and is a great option if you want to go hiking in the area or if you’re looking for a less crowded alternative to Antelope Canyon.
To hike in the canyon, you need to book a guided tour in advance. Local guides lead these tours and know the area well.
The tours last about 1.5 hours and are not difficult.

3. Explore Lower Antelope Canyon
Visiting Lower Antelope Canyon is another must-do when in Page. It’s one of our personal favorites and a fantastic spot for photography.
Be sure to book a guided tour in advance. Two companies offer tours: Dixie’s Lower Antelope Canyon Tours and Ken’s Tours Lower Antelope Canyon. It doesn’t really matter which one you choose, as the experience is quite similar with both.
The canyon tour itself is short, but plan for about 1.5 hours for the whole experience, including check-in and waiting time.
A common question is: What’s the best time of day to visit? We recommend going between 10 AM and 2 PM, as this is when you’ll get the best lighting.
One more thing to keep in mind is that the canyon is not the easiest to walk through. There are stairs and narrow passages, so it’s best for those who don’t have mobility restrictions.
4. Take a tour of Upper Antelope Canyon
Another popular spot near Page is Upper Antelope Canyon, located not far from the Lower Antelope Canyon.
Several companies offer tours here, including Antelope Canyon Navajo Tours, Antelope Slot Canyon Tours, and Antelope Canyon Tours by Carolene Ekis. Some of these tour operators have offices along Highway 98, while most transport visitors from Page to the canyon.
Each tour company takes visitors to the entrance of the canyon in off-road vehicles or small buses, in small groups. The schedule is a bit more fixed compared to Lower Antelope Canyon, with only a few time slots available each day.
No matter which tour operator you choose, we recommend booking a tour between 10 AM and 2 PM to get the best lighting.
You’ll need about 2 hours for the entire visit. The tour includes an exciting ride on a sandy road to reach the canyon, followed by a guided walk with plenty of photo opportunities.
Upper Antelope Canyon is much easier to walk through than Lower Antelope Canyon. However, in our opinion, the experience is a bit less impressive—but that’s just a personal view!
5. Go boating on Lake Powell
A very enjoyable activity when visiting Page is boating on Lake Powell.
There are several marinas along the lake, with the largest ones being Wahweap Marina and Antelope Point Marina, both close to Page.
If you have the budget, you can rent a boat or join a group tour. Some tours even include lunch while cruising around the lake.
Water sports are also popular on Lake Powell, including kayaking and jet skiing.
There are plenty of options to choose from—only your budget and sense of adventure will set the limits!
6. Discover The Wave
The Wave is a stunning and unique sandstone rock formation located in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, near the Arizona-Utah border, about an hour’s drive from Page. It is famous for its surreal, wave-like patterns and vibrant colors, making it one of the most photographed natural wonders in the USA.
To visit The Wave, you need a special permit, which is very hard to get because the number of daily visitors is strictly limited. You must enter a lottery system a few days before your planned visit, and there is a fee to apply. Unfortunately, getting a permit is not guaranteed.
If you are lucky enough to win a permit, the hike to The Wave is 10.3 km (6.4 miles) round trip on challenging terrain, so proper preparation is essential.
7. See the area from above
This is a less common activity, and we mention it as an optional experience. But if you have extra time in Page, booking a helicopter tour could be a great idea.

At Lake Powell, although many wouldn’t expect it, you can also go swimming. This is mainly an option for the summer months, so we mention it as an optional activity.
If you want to cool off in the summer heat, head to Wahweap Bay! The two most popular swimming spots are Wahweap Swimming Spot and Lone Rock Beach. Both have rocky and pebbly shores.
10. Go off-roading to Alstrom Point
We left one of the best activities for last, and it was also our favorite. This is visiting Alstrom Point in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
Alstrom Point is a true hidden gem near Page. It is a viewpoint overlooking Lake Powell, located on the north side of the lake in southern Utah. It offers stunning views of Gunsight Bay, Padre Bay, and the distant Navajo Mountain.
The drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours one way. It is best to go with a 4×4 vehicle because the road is rough and not easy to drive. However, the effort is worth it, as this spot offers one of the most breathtaking views in the area.
We think sunsets are the most beautiful here, but camping overnight to see the sunrise is also a great idea.
For us, driving to Alstrom Point and watching the sunset was an unforgettable experience. If you visit Page, don’t miss it!

Zion National Park is just a 2-hour 15-minute drive from Page, which makes it a perfect addition to your trip.
This huge park features unique red rock formations and deep canyons, and it’s definitely worth a day or multi-day visit. The America the Beautiful Pass provides access to Zion as well.
Zion is very popular, attracting over 4 million visitors each year. This can make transportation and parking challenging. Some areas of the park are only accessible by shuttle, which can be time-consuming.
Additionally, popular hikes, such as Angels Landing, require a permit, which you can obtain through a lottery system.

Monument Valley
